Deployments & Project Management
How the Deployments module turns a closed deal into a structured installation project, with milestones, task assignments, and automated customer communications.
How Deployments Are Created
When a deal is marked Won in the CRM, BlueRockTEL automatically creates a Deployment project for each service that requires physical or logical installation. You don't need to create projects manually.
The project is pre-populated with:
- Customer and contact information
- The list of services to install
- The target go-live date (from the deal's close date)
Project Structure
Each deployment project has:
Milestones
Predefined checkpoints that must be completed in order. The default milestones are:
- Order confirmed — internal sign-off that the project is active
- Equipment ordered — hardware or carrier circuit ordered
- Delivery confirmed — equipment or access delivered to site
- Installation complete — technical team has finished on-site work
- Customer acceptance — customer has signed off on the service
- Go-Live — service is active and billing starts
You can customise milestone templates per service type in Settings → Deployment Templates.
Tasks
Each milestone can contain multiple tasks, assigned to specific team members with due dates. Tasks can be marked as:
To doIn progressDoneBlocked(with a blocking reason and escalation)
Documents
Attach files to the project: carrier order confirmations, delivery notes, installation sign-off forms. All documents are stored against the project and visible to any team member with access.
Automated Customer Communications
BlueRockTEL sends automatic emails to the customer's technical contact at key milestones:
| Milestone reached | Email sent |
|---|---|
| Order confirmed | "Your order has been received and is being processed" |
| Delivery confirmed | "Your equipment has been delivered. Installation is scheduled for..." |
| Go-Live | "Your service is now active. Here is your technical summary..." |
The email content and timing are configurable per template. You can preview and edit the emails in Settings → Email Templates.
Tracking All Projects
The Deployments dashboard shows a real-time overview of all active projects:
- On track — all tasks are within deadline
- At risk — at least one task is due within 2 days and not started
- Delayed — at least one task is overdue
Click any project to open its detail view. Filter by assigned technician, customer, or service type.
From Go-Live to Billing
When you mark a project as Go-Live:
- The linked billing subscriptions are activated (if not already) from the go-live date
- The customer's account status is updated to
Active - The Helpdesk module is notified of the new account configuration (services, contacts, technical details)
This closed loop ensures that billing always reflects reality, and that support agents have accurate context from day one.
